|Matthew (Matt) Butler|
According to the LDS, Matthew (Matt) Butler, the father of Susannah Butler Callaway, was born in 1747. Church records reveal that a Mathew Butler, presumably the ancestor in question, was baptized on June 08, 1747, in Corsham, Wiltshire County. [Corsham, England, Baptisms (Wiltshire County, England: Wiltshire Family History Society, parish register transcriptions), fiche no. PR52.] Matthew's parents were William Butler and Anne Aland Butler. [LDS site.] Anne appears to have been the Anne Aland who was baptized on May 13, 1708, in Corsham, but more research needs to be done. That Anne was a daughter of Mathew and Mary Aland. [Corsham Baptisms.] About 1782, Matthew Butler married Mary Reynolds, a daughter of William Reynolds and Dorothy Fry Reynolds of Hullavington. During the early 1800s, Matthew and his family probably lived in Westbury, the location of Susannah Butler's 1803 marriage to Samuel Callaway.
