|John Fowler (Grocer of Malmesbury, Wiltshire, England)|
John Fowler, a grocer on High Street in Malmesbury, Wiltshire County, England, was the father of John Fowler, a Malmesbury shoemaker. Although the senior John Fowler's parents and exact date of birth are unknown, census information indicates that he was born in Malmesbury around 1776 to 1781. However, his death record indicates a 1772 year of birth. He married Ann Player, a daughter of James Player, on September 29, 1803. [Bishop's transcripts for Malmsbury St. Paul, 1607-1860 (Salt Lake City, Utah: The Genealogical Society of Utah, 1985-1989), FHL BRITISH Film 1279413.] After Ann died, John married a second time, as another "Ann" appears in later census information. John Fowler died on October 21, 1859, in Malmesbury. Elizabeth Grant was the informant. Burial took place on October 26, 1859.
